Cardboard for Wads

A question from a Noob.

Can I use punched cardboard wads soaked in lube between my powder and ball in a C&B Revolver.

I know that I can use felt wads and make my own, but what about card board?

I've used a dry slick side thin cardboard wad over powder with a common corrugated cardboard oiled on top of that , then ball and I like a chapstick consistency home made grease smeared over the ball at the cylinder mouth. I shoot colt copiess and run them wet with lube. Loafing about the summer woods in NC, I don't want the powder to get oiled. BvT
