I may have an opportunity to trade a case of 7.62x54r surplus ammo for aprox 1200 rounds of 45 Colt that are loaded with Goex. Not being real fond of using other peoples reloads because of overloads with smokeless but here is the question. With black powder and the 45 colt case is it going to be safe or should they all be pulled down and start again?

Freightman,

As long as there is no airspace in the rounds, You can't overload a 45 LC with BP.

If you know for a fact that the reloads are black powder - no issues. Original 45 Colt factory loads were 40gr FFg powder that would be a volume charge to the case mouth and then compressed with the bullet (Ideal 454190) - which was the factory bullet used
PS: No wads are needed!

Even if there's a small air space it wont hurt. Problem is if there was a huge air space. I'd maybe pull a couple bullets, and if all looks well, then you're good to go!
