Just left a Wal-Mart. Notice it had 3 Winchester M70 shadows with scopes in 243WSM, 270WSM and 300WSM. Any comments about these rifles, cartridges?

A waste of good rifles on calibers destined to go the way of 8-track tape decks.

I heard more about Winchester. First let me say what my one of my very good friends told me. He said Winchester was Union, that they probably had alot of workers over 20 years that were approaching retirement. That means money going out for the company. Okay, going forward...what I heard folded them up was indeed money. Hershel in Belgium said that's it, we're not making any money, close it down. ALSO...there are NO plans for anyone to pick them up or buy the equipment, etc. There also were no plans to try to revive them.

May think about 300 WSM .
Yank the barrel and install a 458 /300 WSM

A freind just got his back from the gunsmith .
Shoots my RCBS 405 GC bullet great .
He claims with jacketed 90% of 458WM , but 45/70 down loads shoot great .

OK, now THAT makes sense--punching out that "all boiler room" chambering to 45 caliber is a step in the right direction.

45 cal? Sorry, no elephants in Texas legal to shoot. Besides, if I want to shoot a chunk of lead, my 43 Spanish RB does the job.
