I'm not Ben, but I have shot the 215 grain 358627 out of my S&W 686. Got my loading data from Glen. His article also lists some.

Makes my 8 3/8 bbl Smith start to feel like a 41 mag. Accuracy was ok at 50 yard, at 2 1/2". They started to destabilize at 100. IMO, around 180 grain is the break even point.

I'm getting ready to start playing with a 190 Ranch Dog in my .357 magnum. Just bought some H110 and some IMR 4227 to play with.

Mike:

I have not. The 358429 is as heavy as I've gone in the 357 Mag.

Never heard of anyone who's tried with heavier than 200gr.

So what kind of velocities did you guys get??

A couple of the guys on here have shot the 358315 in the .357. May have been in a Contender. Maybe they'll weigh in here shortly. I know it's been done.

I've shot loads of 358430s and 35875s in both the .357 and .38 Special but they only run around 200 grains./beagle

Personally when I load up the 190g Ranch Dog, I hope to get in the area of 1000 to 1200. Mostlikely I'll be seeing pressure signs in the area of 1100 though. Still, a 190g 71% meplat boolit going 1100 fps is more then enough to take down most moderate size game. I expect it to be a nice hog load.

EDIT: Just a note, I cast mine with straight WWs, everything I cast like that drops on the heavy side. Haven't weighed them, but the 158g SWC usually drop about 163-165 with that alloy. These may end up in the 195-197 range with a gas check in place.

I use the RCBS 35-200, 207 grs. with my alloy in a FA 357. A case full 4227. About 1450 fps.

I shoot a 236 gr. ww bullet with 3.0 gr. Unique from a Mdl. 19 @ 565 fps. Strange isn't it? Light load.

I got a new mold in a couple days ago. Magma 230 grain Led Pencil wad cutter. Not good for much exept bowling pins. Pretty sure it would tumble past short range. Sales at Magma said they hadn't sold one for quite a while.

Bought a 195 grain Lyman #358430 but had to send it back for a recut. IMO that's about as large a bullet as you'll need in a standard chambered revolver.

I have a 200 grain rifle bullet that shoots well for guys with single shot Handy Rifles. Leaves more powder space in the case since the weight is more out into the long nose. Compared to the same weight pistol bullet.

Go to lasc.us web site and look at Glenn Fryxell's articles. IIRC the title is a Bullet for all seasons...LYMAN 358627. I haven't done much with mine, but need to get busy with my MARLIN Cowboy rifles

I bought the late Neerb's (Dave Breen) group buy mould for 358627. He died without heirs and it was sold as a site benefit auction. Let's take a moment to remember our friends here who have passed on.

I have enjoyed the 358627 with:

.38 loads of 3.5 Unique
.357 loads of 9.0 AA#7

Not barn burners but respectable.

I've shot the RCBS 35-200 from my Wichester 94 .357 with LilGun, and it works fine. Just got a chrono, so I don't have velocities yet. It also feeds, and cycles well in my gun.

I used 358627 over about 3.5 gr of 700X in 38 spl cases for bowling pins. I never did chronograph that load. The bowling pins were very impressed by this load. It was such a quiet load that you could almost shoot it without muffs on.
