Has to be something in your water.

you are joking, right? I was thinking some kind of oxide in the melt that rust when water droped.

Nope, try filtered or bottled water and it should go away.

I gotta +1 what 44Man said. I have never gotten black spots on water dropped bullets. Are you dropping onto small pieces of sponge in the water? or is it directly into a bucket?

I water drop most all of my Boolits and I don't have a problem with black spots. Will the spots rub off with a cloth or your finger? Is the bucket you are dropping into clean? If the boolits aren’t showing black spots when air cooling then I’d have to say it’s the water too or a dirty bucket.

Spots ? whut Spots ? I never had no stinking spots on alloy boolits. Might have been something in the water or the bucket you were using.:groner:

Weeks ago another posted with similar problems. Everyone said the same thing, water. The person tried filtered water and it fixed it. Give it a try.

I really hope its not the water, its our city drinking water!!!! they do get carried away with the clorine at times, a bath tub full will have a blue color and smell so strong it will give me a head ake! now something wierd I warmed up some spotted bullets to de temper them and the spots vanished, figure that one out!

TR- if the water is that strong for chlorine you need to contact the water dept and get it fixed. Chlorine is fine in small amounts, too much and you keel over and die.

I get the same problem. Its minerals or something in the water that attaches itself to the hot boolits as the sizzle to a hardened state. In reality...I don't think it makes any difference in the performance of the boolit. It does make a difference in looks.
