Do you folks who weight boolits and sort them into batches, weigh before or after lubing and gas checking. I thought that I would sort them before. They would be easier to manage with the Lars45 B.A.C. lube.

I sort them by weight before lubing. Keeps the mess down.

Same here...before lubing. It's such a PITA that I only do it on selected bullets such as .22HPs and some .30HPs destined for the .30/06 which is super accurate./beagle

if the rifle is capable of the accuracy it's worth it.
if you are doing all the other stuff to your brass too.

Thanks for the replies fella's
I am going to separate into batches without being extremely anal about it.

A lot are falling within .3 grains or less of each other. I measured in carats and then used an online converter to get grains. I would keep the bulk in that category an then put the over's and under's in a separate container. So far, the extreme spread in 20 boolits is 1.57 grains
206.79 vs. 208.36 Most are 207.68 to 207.99

I would think that this is close enough as a percentage wouldn't you??

For my general handgun boolits, for just plinking around, if they're within +- 3 grains in weight to each other that fine by me. It's when I have a differential of 5 or more grains that I seperate them. I do informal target shooting and just plinking around in the woods and swamp. If I did formal target shooting, I may be a bit more concerned about the weight difference.

I've cast from 320 grain to 415 within 1.5 grain or less, which is less than half a percent. In the neighborhood of 200 grains, 2 gr = 1% If your extreme spread is only 1.5 gr, I'd say that's pretty durn close.

For my general plinking pistol loads, if they look like bullets (pass visual inspection). I just tumblelube and shoot.

.38 and .45 I ain't even thinking about weighing as long as they hit the 8" plates 10 yards away ! But I'm starting to cast some .30 rifle boolits now (dang this site anyway for being an enabler to the addicted !) and will probably get picky with them. Guess I'll weigh before adding GC.

Same here. For rifles though, I'm more particular. This is the first time I've weighed them though.
