stupid Question....

I've been reading a lot, about gaschecks, and paper patching..

I have read, where some people are using Alum. cans, for home made gas checks, and trying teflon tape on boolits.

Ok My stupid question.........Would it be possible, to use alumin. foil, kinda as a gascheck / patch type material?? You know,sorta wrap it around the boolit, and smooth it out?

That would be too abrasive. Much more so than useing it as check material.

Caspar, I have my doubts that it would survive the rifling. Unless the rifling was worn almost smooth I think it would just turn it to ribbons...Ray

ditto that. I don't think foil is tough enough. Also, a alum can has paint and coatings to help keep away aluminum oxide (an abrasive), Foil doesn't.

Disclaimer: I am no expert. this is just an educated guess. I do use alum cans for gaschecks and they work for me. YMMV
