Since I am now officially a boolit caster, I hope to soon be shooting them from my .45 acp. This pistol has a chrome lined bore, and I was wondering if there are any special precautions or steps I need to take to both minimize and remove any potential leading? I read some other threads on removing lead from a barrel,so I think I can handle it,as long as the chrome doesn't change anything.

what kind of a 45acp do you have that has a chrome lined bore?

Norinco's did also some replacement barrels used in Vietnam.

if the norinco's do then you don't gotta do nothing different.
my boy's norinco shoots the same boolits as my 1911.

Yep,it's a Norinco Police model. I think all the Norc's have chrome bores though.

My Norinco SKS shoots cast boolits just fine and it has a chrome bore.

No difference. Keep it clean & watch the usual indicators.

Does lead have an affinity for chrome? Does it chemically adhere to chrome??

I have a Norinco 213 (Tokarev TT-33 copy) in 9mm with a chrome bore and I have put nearly 500 cast bullets through it with no problems at all.

Excellent, I have this 9mm as well, hope to get a mold for it soon too.

if anything i would think that a chrome bore would reduce leading as if its done right it should be smoother.

+1- it should make leading at least easier to clean out.

I don't think a person can easily make an electrical solder connection to a chrome plated part. That being the case, a chrome-lined barrel should be very difficult to lead shooting cast boolits through it. If you run very soft boolits through it and the lands strip lead off, it should easily push out with a cloth patch after a night sitting with a light coat of Kroil in the barrel.

I tried cast boolets with no lube out of my chrome lined Makarov to see if or how long it would take to lead. I'm at work, and can't check for sure, but I think it took around 25 or 30 boolets for the lead to build up. It cleaned out pretty easily, and surprisingly, accuracy didn't get too bad as the lead built up.
