I have never slugged a barrel before and I need some advice. I have been casting 00 buckshot and it is .33 in diameter. Will one of these buckshot pellets work for slugging my 30-30?

If you are casting pure, or soft lead buckshot I see no reason why not. You could also flatten the pellet just a little. I prefer a little longer slug than that, but it should be OK:drinks:

If it's a little too big, roll it between two pieces of metal plate to reduce it to .315" or so.

It helps if you clean and lube your bore first. In fact, definitely lube your bore first.

You can pound soft lead through the bore with an aluminum rod. If the lead is too big, it will leave a donut of lead as it enters the bore. Lead slip sinkers with the hole in them work well and are soft lead.

Is it best to stard the lead into the muzzle and drive it all the through to the breech or the other way, from the breech to the muzzle? Of course, the breech end does not give you a straight line to push a rod through, so I assume that you start at the muzzle.

You assume correctly.
