My first and foremost deal is for a "Blackhart" contemporary flintlock in the "Dickert" school or style . This one is a 45 caliber and will be BP and PRB only !

My other deal is for converting a 50 caliber Savage 10ML smokeless ML to a 45 caliber so I can run a Hornadt 200 grain SST sabot at abotu 2650 FPS !

You might say I'm hung up on both ends of the spectrum [smilie=1:

Got another deal going for a "Emmittsburg" rifle at my buddy Al Edge's shop . My "Dickert" is a 45 and this one at Al's is a 50 cal !

Another buddy and I are going down to Al's on thursday to pick up the "Emmittsburg" rifle and get it and the "Dickert" sighted in (I hope) !

My buddy made a deal for a really really nice 54 cal Hawken with Al two weeks ago and now he wants a 40 cal barrel to be made to fit the rifle ! So we'll see about that as well on thursday !

Oh yeah I will post pics of my 50 cal and maybe my buddies Hawken !

That's a fine looking rifle. Question on picture #3, it's a bit blurry. The line running through the hammer, is it engraving or is it hand forged?...Ray

At the moment I'm in debate mode over buying molds and casting roundballs for my 3 long rifles or just shooting Hornady ready made balls !

It takes so long to fire 100 balls, you might just be better off getting some.
I had gotten ready for the range with 4lbs of R.E.A.L.s and used 20 in 2hrs.
I got a lot of spares. Not like going with the race gun for sure.

I thought this was an Emmittsburg rifle and it turns out it is actually a Virginia style rifle !
Either way I had decided to purchase the rifle !

Both incredably georgous...! They also both match your home.

A tip to stop the blurr is mount your camera on a short tripod, and hold the tripod as an extention of the camera in off hand. It stops the shakes really well and lets cheap camera's like mine get in close. Or quit drinking coffee. I gotta shoot in between shakes now to hit the target ..

Well it looks as if I have a nice 54 caliber flintlock coming when I get back in the USA around July 4th !

I was going to have Al Edge build me a 54 in the "Sheetz" style , now I think I'll get him to make me a "Sheetz" in 36 or 40 caliber [smilie=1:

I would post picks of this rifle , but I have none available ! But some will follow when I get back home in july !

I'm also having them put a sliding wooden patchbox on the rifle , thats gonna cost me an additional $250 .[smilie=1:

Wish I could makem that purdy.... Man's gotta know his limitations I guess. :(

I enjoy fliter's above all else. This past winter I took mine apart, stripped it to bare wood, made a sliding patchpox (that I had failed on the first attempt 10 years ago), stained, oiled and waxed her.. NIce, but still doesn't hold a candle to either of those.......

Well I talked with Clay Smith on the phone yesterday !

He has the sliding patchbox in my Isaac Haines 54 caliber flinter . He told me when I called he had just put the final coat of wax on it I think !

So we should head down next saturday (7/11) to pick it up .

Well the trip has been finalized for next saturday to go pick up the 54 Isaac Haines !

My gunsmith buddy is gonna take his Suburban ! And looks as if He , I , his brother and 4 other fellows that spend time in the shop are going ! One guy is going to ride his bike as he has to stay in Richmond to watch his son play baseball !

But after we go by and pickup the rifle we're heading to "Captain George's" in Williamsburg for a LARGE seafood dinner !

Just got back home from Williamsburg !

Digi cam is in the truck and the race is on ! So I'll either put pics on tommorrow or monday !

Rifle looks great ! Clay Smith did a great job putting on the patchbox !

This rifle has a 38" barrel I think and my other two are 42" rifles !

This 54 should make me an even better treestand flinter I think :drinks:

That rifle was made about 18 months ago and supposedly still unfired !

The original builder was the barrel maker Getz's brother in law and Clay said Getz helped this fellow with the rifle as it was his first !

First or not I personally think he did a pretty nice job !

And I think Clay did an excellent job of putting the sliding wooden patchbox on and matching up the wood and finish !

That rifle may very well get used in the early early Damage Control season here in august/september [smilie=1:

Now that I'm well stocked with Contemporary Flinters I need to scratch up a nice used Savage 10ML to rebarrel to 45 caliber before early ML season in Maryland !

Shot the Isaac Haines today !

Used a Hornady .530" roundball with a pre lubed .015" patch and 90 grains of Goex FFg .

Rifle shot very well at 25 and 50 yards from the bench .

But my offhand shooting at 50 yards has room for improvement [smilie=p:

Since you are acquiring quite a nice collection of traditional rifles, I believe you should put aside any thought of getting one of those inlines!! WHY?
