Does anyone have experience with this boolit in the .358?

Thanks,
MJ

I have the mold, but haven't spent much time casting bullets with it.

Sorry, have one on the way, that's all. I'm hoping that it will be a cheaper work-alike for the SAECO TC 180 GC bullet, though it looks to be a tad taller.

I use it and it is a good one for my Blackhawk but that is it. Seated at the cannelure it is 1.685 OAL, just a hair too big for my GP-100 and way to long for the Python. I am working on a different seating to see if it will go in the GP-100. Might work in the Marlin though.

I'm looking for a super accurate boolit for my M77 in .358 Winchester.

Great boolit, never used it in a 358 Win, but shot it in Uberti '73, and a Browning '92. I tried several others Saeco 399 & 354 and the RCBS seemed to perform the best.
cbrick uses it in his FA revolver, and has done extensive testing with it.

Jon

Jon,

When you say "...and the RCBS seemed to perform best" do you mean RCBS 35-180-SILH? I have the RCBS 35-200-FN but it casts a bit narrow (.3580") and I been thinking about sending it back to the factory.

Hey, marlin junky, is your .358 win the ruger with 1 in 12 twist? did you find it liked harder bullets due to this and the height of the lands

in my experince the 200 gr rcb 35 cal rifle bullet is the most accurate bullet in 357 mag single shot pistols that ive owned , i have the saeco 180 tc , 180fngc and the 200 grtcgc

I've used the RCBS 180 Sil. in TC's, DW, FA and Rossi 92 Since they first came out. One of the best .357 boolits.

Marlin Junky,

Was wondering if you could take a couple measurements on the 35-180-SIL? I've got some RCBS 200gr FN, and I'd like to know the difference in them in regards to the meplat width and the length from the top of the crimp groove to the top of the band - closest to the boolit tip.

The 200gr FN, loaded in my 357 Max Handi Rifle needs to be seated out .170" from the case mouth to the top of the band. Just wondered if the 180gr SIL would have the crimp in the right place.

Thanks.

MJ,

That's correct.......comparing the RCBS 35-80 Sil to the 2 Saeco boolits.
The 35-180 Sil also cast @.358.
