i was dropping my ruger sbh off at a local gunsmith today when i noticed he had a couple boxes of .458 boolits on a shelf.

i told him i was just getting started casting and had trouble finding lead.

he said he had a few bags of shot in the back he would sell me.

i ended up with 150ish lbs!

he had Remington field shot #2, #4 #7.5.
he also had a bag of all American hard cast #6
a bag of lawrence chilled shot #4
and a mystery bag of #6, the markings were so worn off it was just a faded red square visible.

all for $70!

plus he had a bunch of .458 bullets too.

i got all hornady
89 500gr fmj/solids
9 500gr jsp
30 350gr rnsp
75 300gr jsphp
15 500gr gc boolits

and 18 winchester 405gr jsp

all for $50!

plus yesterday at the range i got 200 405gr boolits for $10

ive now got a crap load of 45/70 bullets/boolits

now i m just waiting on my scale, and powder.

Nice score!

I have a Marlin 45-70. I use a Speer 400 full jacketed bullet OR a 500 grain flat pointed round nose. It is a Lyman bullet mold 457125. You are going to love casting for the 45-70. I really enjoy the old big bore lead slinger.

Cheers
Mac.

If you want to part with any of that #2 shot or any of the other larger shot I would gladly pay you for it plus some extra for your time or I can trade #7.5, 8's or 9's for it. I cant find any that large near me. I use it for my coyote loads and im running real low. Thanks, Mike
PS- I also have ingots in WW and Lyman #2 alloy I can offer for it. And a RCBS 5-0-5 scale.
