This came up in another thread. I know of a few already but was just curious how many fellow "Michiganders" we actually have here.

I'll start it off by checking in from Birch Run.

Sound off! ;)

Houghton, but about two generations ago; Grandpa moved to CA back when you could still pot jackrabbits off the platform of the Hollywood-to-Los Angeles trolley car.

BORN in Detroit in '43, and spent the remaining WWII years with my Mother and her folks in Houghton, waiting for Dad to come home from the Canadian Army.

Moved to Canada in '47 once he finished his degree at MCMT, and have never lived in Michigan since then. Still, I have a strong feeling of "identity" with all Yoopers, wherever they may be. Great country.

you guys that still live here just a heads up Mark Stevenson lives in Grayling and puts together a shoot every summer. Its a low keyed thing where you just shoot what ya brung. More plinking and shootin the breeze then anything. All the money donated goes toward muscular distrophy. I think this year the shoot will be in august. anyone intersted in gettting on a contact list email me at lws43@hotmail.com

I didn't know that he became a shooter! Too Cool! I gotta attend!

I live in the beautiful frozen northwoods of the eastern U.P. between Sault Ste Marie and Brimely.

I had to live in Detroit from June to the end of Jan this year....felt like I was in purgatory!!! I don't want to ever, never ever leave da U.P. again!!!! (Except, of course, for a shoot'n event!)

The old UP is looking pretty white this morning. Weve been spoiled all winter but the last couple days are trying to make up for it.

Yes it is, but I have to say...after living down in the city all this time, I love the sight of this snow. To my way of thinking, the snow keeps the down state, down state! :)

I'll take the snow over the city any day!

Besides, snow shoeing is always best when there are no other tracks in sight!!

Lloyd, Cayoot,

Have either of you been to any of the Cowboy shoots at the Chippewa Co. Sportsman Club at the Soo? They have monthly shoots on the 3rd Sat of the month starting in May I think. They also put on a 2 day shoot in July that is a real blast. Lottsa' rifle shootin', with cast boolits of course, both BP and smokeless. The buffalo shoot, last man standing, long range handgun, and other events are just too much fun. Come check it out.

Wife is peeved at me for us not locating in UP area of Michigan.

She likes to shop at Super market in Ironwood, MI in the UP, got the best beef and is worth a 40 mile drive to get it.

Don't know if I could take that Lake effect weather in the winter time, can hardly stand it where I live...right now its about 15 below here in northern Wisconsin.

You cant ask how many Texans, because if they are they are going to tell you without being asked and if they are not you sure don't want to embarrass them.

Yeah but Jim, When you are in the Michigan U.P., it feels warmer, because it is MICHIGAN UP weather, and MICHIGAN UP Lake Effect and just living in MICHIGAN'S UP makes you feel warm and fuzzy!!!
I wouldn't trade it here for nutin!!!

Denver,
I'm a member of CCSA (Chippewa County Shooting Assn). What a great group of guys and yes, they put on great cowboy shoots every year. I'm hoping to get some IDPA shoots going up here too. I just have to either find some qualify IDPA range safety officers, or find the time to go down below da bridge to become one myself.

Like I said, great group of guys and gals and great shoots too!!! [smilie=p:

Hey, Cayoot. You ever get that S&W .45 Colt to shoot the way you hoped it would. Great cartridge, and great gun.

Still got the Tauras Tracker in that caliber, thought it might make a good carry piece if the stupid wardens of our Wisconsin society decide to abide by the 2nd Amendment and give us CCW like the rest of the nation.

Hey Swagerman!
Yes, I love that S&W .45 Colt Mnt Gun! It is one of my favorites. Whenever I go out snow-shoeing I carry it with 452424 in it stoked to 1,000 fps. I find that it is wonderfully accurate with that load and I believe that it will handle any wild surprises that I can't avoid while out in the frozen northwoods.

Are you still happy with the way your tracker is now? 2 of my buddies carry Taurus .45 Colt snubbies for their CC gun and just love them.

Take care Buddy.

Good deal Denver...I'll try to keep you posted.

I see you are in Roscommon. I graduated from Grayling High School (waaayyyyy back in 1980) and grew up not too far from the North Higgins Lake State Park. In fact, my mom and two sisters still live in that area. So I think it would be really great if someone from my old home stomping grounds would come up for an IDPA shoot!

I attend Michigan Tech (in houghton) right now and I'm going for a Mechanical Engineering Technology BS degree. Every morning when I get to class I have to take the batteries out of my calculator and but them in my shirt pocket before walking across campus to class, otherwise the batteries will be dead when I get to class.

I'm in Saginaw. Born here. Ran off to the Marine Corps, sunny So. Cal., then Arizona. Stupid me even after the doctor tried to talk us out of comin back here, I didn't listen. I'm hoping to head to warmer climes in the next few years. I want a place near a river/lake that's full of rabbits, squirrels, turkey & deer. A green place with REALLY MILD winters. Not sure were that would be yet, but.... Without socialistic gun laws, high taxes, and moron politics. Do these places even exist???
Anyways, I'm finishing up a degree and on the side I show people how to get paid while sleeping.
