Not sure about the thread you are asking about, but have a look at Ranch Dog's site, he designs the moulds specifically for Marlins and they work darn well ! His link is at the bottom of the page.

Lots of threads on that subject. Try buzz words in search.

chuck75, I used to have two Marlin Microgroove 336's, a .30-30Win., which I sold, and a .45-70, which I still have. Both shot cast bullets extremely well, if sized correctly and if the design was tolerated by the rifle. Of the two, the .30-30 was much fussier with respect to bullet design. However, when fed what it liked, it was so accurate it was boring (which is why I sold it).

I have two Marlin 336's one old one that is ballard and a newer one that is microgrove. I loaded up 100 rounds of plinkers. Lee 150gr fngc alox tumble lubed with 8gr of Unique. Shot it all from both guns. No differance in accuracy or fouling.
I sold the Lee mold cause I bought a Ranch Dog 6 banger, have yet to get to the range with thoose boolits.
It is a non issue as far as I am concerned.

Someone round' here used to say "only accurate rifles are intersting"? ...

Ask Starmetal Joe bout' the original fat-30 GB mold and the Thutty-thutty. Probably the best boolit I've fired out of my micro groove.
