Another NOOB question - I just bought a 2 cav steel mold. What do we do after casting to keep these molds from rusting. I'm sure they must be coated with something, I just don't know what!:confused:

I store mine in surplus ammo boxes with a reusable dessicant.I don't like degreasing everytime I want to cast.

If you don't mind cleaning every time you use your molds and you don't have access to gi ammo cans, you can coat the entire mold with some of daniel's excellent bull plate sprue plate lube. Check out the link to the
Bullshop at the bottom of the page. Works for me......

I leave the last cast in the mould and store in plastic box with tight fitting lid with a desicant pack. Have very low humidity in this part of the world and rust is not a very big problem.
