Has anyone had success with 311410 in the 30-'06? I was wondering if this lil' boolit has enough length to reach the rifling while the grease groove is buried in the case neck. I just want to push it to 1300fps with a light charge of pistol powder.

I've got a bunch of them (311410) lubed with Javelina and am wondering how to remove the lube in order to re-lube with LBT Soft Blue. I was thinking about soaking them in denatured alcohol.

Lay them on mesh wire ( like a minnow basket is made of ) and wave a heat gun over them, that lube will come pouring out.

It worked, thanks Ben.

I guess I'll load up a couple dozen rounds with about 8 grains of 231 and 453 for next week and we'll see how it shoots. Maybe I should buy a 30-150-CM. :-D

I have Lyman 31141, the old Lyman number, that bullet is one of the easiest to cast that I have. When I do my part, I can get sub 1" groups. I started with some of the cookbook loads that Ed Harris has mentioned over on the CBA forum. It's a nice bullet and I like it a lot.

runfiverun,

The Javelina was mostly melted out to begin with from sitting in the glove box of my car when it was parked in the sun last summer and I've got LBT Soft Blue in my 450. There's always a reason for my madness. :-D

Bob,

I have 311041 and I'll probably try that one in the '06 next time I get a chance to fire up the pot. I really liked 311041 in the 30-30 and should probably have two copies of this Lyman mold because I get my single DC mold pretty hot during a typical casting session... which is one of the reasons I bought (2) RCBS 30-180FN molds several years ago when Midsouth was selling them for around 50 bucks. Now I need a good PB .30 cal mold so I'm not tempted to buy a rimfire rifle. :-D

I used to use 311410 in a .308W for a grouse load at 1200 fps. I used well fire formed cases with dirlled falsh holes to prevent the shoulder from setting back. A #30-28 drill bit works great for drilling the flash holes out. That also is a great help lessoning powder position sensitivity. Suggest you use Bullseye powder and start with 5 gr and work up until you hit 1300 fps or accuracy goes south. It worked great for me much to the chagrine of numerous grouse.

I had a 311410HP that I tried in the .30/30 some years back with no good results. I was shooting them pretty fast and that may have been the problem. As with any bullet, if you mess with it long enough, it should shoot good in the 06..beagle
