No one has any standard large pistol primers in stock, but everyone seems to have plenty of large pistol magnum primers. I know I would have to adjust powder charges, but is there much of an accuracy difference switching between the two?

Yes, and no.
Caliber? Projectile type and weight? Powder choices?
Too many variables to quantify an answer without more detail.

What MP said! YOU have to try them with reccommended charges to see how YOUR gun likes them. As always start low and work up!

I was using standard CCI LP primers under Green Dot & Bullseye in my 45 ACP and Unique in my 45 Colts. Usual loads consist of a 230 grain Lee TC TL over either 4.5 grains of Green Dot or 4.5 grains of Bullseye. My 45 Colt loads usually consist of 10 grains of Unique under various 255 grain semi-wadcutters. I was wondering if anyone sees any BIG accuracy differences switching between standard and magnum primers.

It made a difference in my SRH .480 with 400 gr cast boolits..They both shot well, but the mag primers were a bit more "brisk."

I'm sure you'd have to go with a smaller charge. If the rounds weren't dangerous they would definitely produce a substantially larger amount of wear and tear on a auto loader.

You have to do what you have to do. But personally I would try calling an out of town dealer first to see if he had any LP first.

i use mags in my 44 it seems to burn the 2400 better .the regulars do fine in my 45 colt with the same powder charge.
go figure.
must be different guns

I just checked and have some CCI LP magnum primers on hand. I'll try some out and compare. Just thought I would get some input before I waste a bunch of money on primers. I don't think it would make much difference in my Ruger Bisley. I was more concered with the 45 ACP. Makes sense to me if I reduce the charges they will be safe. I just hated to stray from proven loads from an accuracy stand point.

The only LP primers I've been finding are those Winchester ones that say they are suitable for regular and magnum loads.
