From what I understand pure lead and pure lead with tin will not hardened if water dropped. Antimony and/or arsenic are needed.

I have always used wheel weights quenched in water.
I have found, proper sizeing, water quenching, no leading.
Pure lead I am not certain. I have read here that pure lead does not harden with ordinary procedures.
If you have a lot of pure, I bet there are folks here who would exchange you for wheel weight. Front Stuffers love it.
I am converting to front stuffers. I know a lot of roofers.

Water quenching will have NO effect on pure lead. There has to be some impurities for it to work. In WW, that ingredient is arsenic. Magnum shot has it too. Adding some to pure would allow you to water drop.

I've never shot pure through those calibers, but IIRC, many do and swear it works fine as is. At reasonable loads, those all sit around 1000fps or less.

a 50/50 mix of pure lead and WW still left lead deposits in my 9mm with 3.6 grains of 700x powder. my .38 was fine because the boolit was traveling about 300 fps slower than the 9mm. I have yet to try it in my .45

pure won't quench unless you add other stuff to it.
not tin either.

Pure or almost pure works great in target velocity .38's, properly sized of course. They won't harden. Add a little lino and they will. Experiment to find out.
