How big is the inside diameter of most eletric melters?

The reason I am asking is that I am casting ww ingots using ss sauce bowls, and the final diameter is 3 1/8" (yields about a 3 to 3 1/2 # ingot).

Probly won't fit. The old Lyman/Saeco furnaces are probly less than 3", and that's all I have.

I think my Lee Pro-4-20 is about 3" interior diameter, but the metering rod reduces available room for large ingots. Electric melters without the bottom draw feature allow more room.

I personally like smaller ingots no bigger than 1#. That way when you add the lead to the melt it doesn't change the temp as much thus interupting your flow of moulding bullets. They're ok for the initial start up.

My Pro Melt is a little over 3 3/4" inside. I measured it yesterday and made a drawing for a big mold. Then the welder found a pipe with the same id which he'll cut down the middle, 8" long, and weld them side by side to end plates. One ingot should fill the pot when melted.
