okay I have a source for lead foil. It is a place that trains people to take x-rays. This little strip is stuck on the x-ray tablet and removed after the x-ray is taken. I have about a softball sized ball of it right now. Anybody have any expierence with lead foil? Is it pure lead?

I will see how it melts tonight.

Yep... though I just mix mine with WW - especially since I shoot Pistol Calibers and find ACWW to be too hard in many circumstances.

Just as John Boy says about hardness, mine cast at 8.2 BHN and increased to 8.7 BHN after a week so it has something in it other than lead, good stuff though.

You guys have the good stuff. The lead I am getting from my dentist is running 12 to 13 BHN on my Cabbin tree tester. I have been getting it for about 2 years now and I test every batch. I have NEVER had any that tested lower than 12. Ron

Dad has a ball of lead foil bigger than a baseball. He said that he would take it out of the cigarette packages that he would find along the road. Can't remember when he said that they started using aluminum foil. I've got to ask him about it again, it might have been only during the second WW.

I just became aware of this stuff from a dentist friend. He gave me about 5 lbs. of it and will start saving it for me. I haven't melted it yet but I figure on throwing it in with my other scrap lead.

tall grass -- perhaps that's why they swore that cigarettes weren't bad for you, they had removed all of that dangerous lead foil [smilie=1:
