Selling Smelted Wheelweight Ingots?

Whats a fair price?
I have an offer of .70 a pound from a guy locally and would like to see how fair this a deal this may be.
Only cost I have involved is a sore back a few hours per smelting session and a couple pounds of propane.

Best way to check this is to call a "local" recycling yard and ask what the price is for 100lbs.

Each location around the country seems to have a different demand for certain metals and availabilty certainly plays a part in pricing.

Another factor is how far one must drive to aquire the metal.

Having said all that I think .70 a lb is fair, but would not give the impression that it's a fixed price as fuel and availablity of WW may change in the future.

In the SLC market I see them ( and occasionally sell them) online for $1.00/lb quite frequently. I do think it varies quite a bit by locale.

ebay is silly with prices but 70 cents is a good offer.
Considering I can buy 2/6 bullet alloy right now from the foundry for 75 cents FOB. last summer it was $1.35.

Out in NM it's worth more than here since I'm just a bit over an hour from the smelter.

IMHO $0.70 is a fair/good price. I'm paying $0.65 per lb delivered.

I look at it like this.
If he bought ww he would have to pay for them, smelt them and get rid of the steel clips and other junk.
Then there is the time and expense involved smelting the ww.

Sounds like a good deal to me @ .70.

I buy WW for .20 per pound, and do have to smelt them and trash the clips. Nice ingot when I get done, for about .25 when you consider 20% loss of scrap.
