I cast 200 or so Lee 338 GC bullets using their current production mould. Applied Gas Check and lubed. My barrel is Encore frm T/C's custom shop. Nose diameter of bullets is .330. Well no way will these fit down bore which I suspect is much closer to .328 or so. And seated deep enough to close, of course a huge amoutn of bullet shank with lube groove is exposed below neck.
So using a .325 H&I die I sized nose first the entire nose and just a smidge of the front driving band. Now gas check is right at bottom of neck and action closes. Without bumping the front driving band, action would not close, least with gas check flush with neck.

Will be interesting. I've never sized just the nose of a cast bullet.

Would be intriguing if I could I found find a .327 or .328 sizing die to make a real bore riding design.
Hopefully this works, could have just ordered from Mtn Molds, but glad I've gone through this exercise, or sure as heck I would have designed a bullet that wouldn't chamber with gas still inside the case neck.
