80 degrees here with blue sky, a great day to get outside and cast.

I cast several hundred Lyman 3111466's today. It is one of my favorite light weight .30 cal. cast bullets.

My mold cast .3115 on the bands and .3025 on first " nose band ". Gas checks are a good snug fit on the shank. With my AC WW alloy, these " numbers " for me are just about perfect.

Awwww these picture threads are so amazing. Clean cast boolits are just a piece of art. I look forward to self contributing with a respectable one.

Nice slugs Ben :castmine:

It was a good day for you. I have a similar mold for the 8 mm that shoots pretty good.
Do you seat this with exposed lube?

I was hoping to get out and do some casting, but we got another couple inches of snow and temps are down around zero. No casting for me. I just have to live vicariously through you guys at the moment. Nice looking boolits.

More often than not, Yes, exposed lube rings will be out of the case in an effort to make contact with the rifling.

Doesn't seem to affect accuracy, seating them " out " in this manner .

I've shot some pretty impressive groups with this bullet in a variety of .30 cal. rifles.

Good thing I do my casting indoors, I'd never get any boolit making done IF I had to do it outside!:castmine:

We got another 8" of snow yesterday, it's raining now. Casting weather here in WI. would add up to maybe 20 days a yr.!

Awww, it ain't that bad up here. I was on the road yesterday and saw 51 on a bank marquee. Snow predicted today through tommorow, though.

"80 degrees and blue sky..." Nah, nah, nah. Jeeze Ben, have a little mercy on us Nawtheners that are still suffering through the latest couple inches of "partly cloudy"! Next thing he'll be telling us about the terrible sunburn he got at the barbecue while we're still waiting for mud season to arrive!

Divided out over the whole year it rains every third day in this country. When it dosen't rain it's always very windy. For 7 months it's usually around 40 degrees. On good years we get 30-40 days of sun.... awwww everything is just so terrible.....

86 degrees and sunny, no humidity here yet on the nature coast of Florida. Great casting weather and better shooting weather.
Ben your still a Northener to me.

....it was about 40 degrees with a west wind. That allows me to smelt without issues with wind.
While you were casting, I was smelting. Got 2 buckets 'o ww's done into about 1.5 5 gal buckets of ingots.
Finally got a thermometer. I figured out how to hold it at about 650, and the speed with which to add more ww's. Too much, and it turns to slush. Too little and there is no productivity.
Nice casting job, there. Any day casting is a good day. Now I have another 2000 lbs of ww's to smelt. I also have about 3000 358156's to size and lube.
Never ending job.

I'm jealous. I wish I had 2000lbs on hand.
Nice casting Ben. They sure look pretty.
