I just traded a guy for an 1886 Winchester light weight rifle with half magazine in 45-70. It has a new barrel and was reblued. The action is tight and the bore mint. I got it mostly for a shooter and hunting rifle. I traded a rifle that cost me $750. I like the 86 Winchester I got but wonder if I gave too much for it. The rifle was made in 1891 per the serial number.

Good morning
With the present prices on Gunbroker and Auctionarms.... sounds good to me.
If you want to sell it I will get $750 moving your way.
God Bless you

You got a good deal. It is hard to find just a stripped down original pre-1898 receiver for $750.

If you feel like you gave too much for it you did. If you are pleased with the deal you didnt. How can what someone else thinks have any bearing on that?
Does everyone pay the same amount for a car, or a house? Anything is worth what the buyer is willing to pay. If everything had an exact value auctions would be of little use.

Take it and shoot it before you decide the value, if it fits and you're happy with it, you got a good deal. If not ,sell it and get somthing else.

I've got a Browning 1886 that I gave more than that for, and right now wouldn't sell it for $500 profit. :-D

I have a Miroku model 1886 that I paid much more then that for and wouldn't trade it for anything. Would like to find another to go with the one I already have, that is how much I like the rifle. Go shoot it and see if it turns you on if not then sell it and go look for something else.
No one can tell you if you paid to much as the price on a firearm is 95% what you think it is worth and 5% on why you bought it. Some of mine I paid a lot of money for and others I paid very little as I knew what I was looking for most of the time it is a shooter as I am not a collector so a few knicks and signs of use mean nothing to me.
I forgot to mention a Miroku 1886 lw go from 1000-1400 and these are lawyer safe models

Well I shot it today and it is a winner. I used a load consisting of an RCBS 45-325-FN over 27 gr of AA 5744. Results were five shot groups that averaged under 2 inches at 100 yards. The rifle worked flawlessly. I think it just got permanently added to my shooting irons.
