View Full Version : **PIF THREAD** For items you have to give or need for free**

Hello Folks, This is an idea I have and im hoping its going to be a BIG success with all the great members here on Cast Boolits. I would like to personally thank Ken for allowing me to post this to give it a try.:drinks:
It seems that alot of members here have items they no longer need or use that could be used by other members. This thread is for giving away your unwanted items to another member who can use them and for receiving items that you can use, For FREE.
RULES, PLEASE READ.- The rules are simple, If you take an item from a member please replace it with an item of similar value at the time of the request.(Example- Mikenbarb, I would like that Lyman 311375 and I will PIF with a Lyman 311291.) Its that simple.
**This thread is not a wish list or for trading a specific item for one you want because we have a page here for that already so please dont post wish list items. Any item(s) you offer for PIF will be shipped to the member asking for it at YOUR expense unless you work it out prior with the other member.
Please DO NOT use this thread as an opportunity to make a profit or to resell any item taken because thats not what these items are for. They are kindly being given away for free by members to members who can use them, Not to resell.
Try to keep the items offered related to casting, reloading, shooting, hunting, etc, etc. and please try to update your PIF's available from time to time to make sure the items are still available and the item you offered wasnt given to your buddy or something like that.
If you offer an item and dont take one but decide to later down the road, Just refer back to your reply# where you originally offered an item and didnt take one.
Reminder to members shipping smaller items, Small USPS flat rate boxes are under 5 bucks to ship anywhere in the US.
***PLEASE MARK ITEMS THAT WERE PIF'D TO ANOTHER MEMBER SO EVERYONE HERE KNOWS THEIR NO LONGER AVAILABLE. POST YOUR REPLY HERE FIRST FOR AN ITEM TAKEN AND THEN PM THE MEMBER OFFERING THAT ITEM WITH YOUR INFO. THANKS.
**If you cannot edit a post please notify myself or one of the moderators.**
**Moderators have the right to delete any posting at any time they feel necessary so please play nice and enjoy the kindness of others that offer their unwanted items here.**
This is a great site with some of the nicest people I have ever met and I hope this thread works the way I hope it to. Thanks in advance to all the members here that offer items and thanks again to Ken for this great site. Thanks much, Mike:drinks:
PS- Site donations are always accepted for items taken and please have a minimum of 15 posts or 20 days as a site member before posting in PIF thread.
OK, Lets get this rolling,,

Mike, Ken,
Great idea! I was thinking that we should do the same thing but didn't propose it to Ken yet. I would suggest though that a PIF forum be created, with one PIF item per thread. If this works the way I hope it will, the thread is going to be very long!
Thanks again,

***ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS POSTING ITEMS, Please read my initial post and the rules that apply. Stuff is already being overlooked thats listed in the rules of the opening post and it takes just a minute to read. PIF is a PAY IT FORWARD thread where the members that are so kind to offer items pay the shipping to the member recieving that item unless its worked out prior between members. If you have any questions please pm myself or a moderator and we will be more than happy to answer what we can. This is something new here and we all have to work together to make this a success and so far its looking great! I am going to be working closely with no 1(Robert) on this and we will just have to work out the bugs as they come. If anyone has any suggestions please PM either of us with what your thinking. Thanks much, Mike

Fellow Members,
This is doing very well. I have seen some really good stuff come and go so far. Please remember to keep it in the spirit of doing this the way it was designed by MikenBarb: If you have something, offer it. If you see something listed, claim it but offer something in replacement.
If you have something you wish to trade for something else in particular then it should be listed in the general Swapping & Selling section.

mikenbarb the lee plate is on its way to you as of yesterday! It was a 4 hole so I hope you can use it. I've never seen one of those presses work so I'm just guessing the 3 & 4 hole heads just indext by hand? and you can use both on the same press?
Depends on when the press was made. Mine is an older one and the four-hole plates won't work.
I have two of these to PIF, new-in-box (got them in trade with some other stuff). Lee part # 34307 90269. Contact Lee customer service to make sure they'll work in your press.
PIF'd to Rudy!

Just an FYI. from the rules. When you ask for an item a PIF should be given in return.
I believe the bullets available are from two Different PIF'S. Thus it would take two different PIF'S.
Just want to keep this going and fair. You can see there are others that are already concerened these threads get turned into take take and no give.
I think it's great and helps me help others that I teach. I personally would like to see it work.

I have 20 pieces of .40 S&W and 35 of 357 but it seems like it would cost me more to ship it than they would be worth. What is the cheapest way to ship, and how many pieces of brass does it take to be worth the cost of shipping? My guess is it won't be worth it till I pick up brass a few more times.

Not a good Idea. Like myself, people pay it forward first (post#63 & post#31) and have not taken anything. Then it would make me look like an idiot claiming someones stuff and saying I already PIF. If anyone has some once fired Remington hulls, I could really use them. Just started reloading for shotgun and I have 2 kids that want to start trap this year. Yay, another caliber to reload for!
I can PIF with a box or 2 of IMI 9mm Subgun ammo. I wouldn't fire it in anything NOT +p+ rated, but it's 9MM 115G FMJ's if you want to break it down. IIRC, 30 Rnds per box.

That Thompson is actually a "de mil'd" dummy, it (and all of the vehicles) belong to the father of one of the leaders in our scout troop. We camp at his place during the summer. He lets the boys play with a bunch of stuff. He and the leaders drive them around in the vehicles.
I could only dream of having the cash and gear it takes to re-enact!

Well, if you'd like to drive up here to our weekly scout meetings to join our Troop, we'd love to have you!
The rules last time, was the adults could drive anything (and believe me, I did). The kids had to be approved by the owner and were limited to the MULE. (first pic in post 225 is the MULE)
It was one hell of a weekend! The way I undestand it the guy is getting a little older, and dosen't do as many re-enactments, but still shows them off once in a while!
(more pics here) (http://www.castboolits.gunloads.com/album.php?albumid=133)
Oh, and if you think the vehicles are cool, you should see the HUGE gun collection he has! He could arm a small Army. When the "zombies" come, I'm headed to his place!
BTW if anyone has any old camping or backpacking gear to give away I know a scout troop that would love to make good use of it! Just shoot me a PM.

I know mikenbarb is the OP on this thread, but I'd like to reiterate the purpose and soul of this thread.
1. If there is an item posted that you'd like to have, you should post and 'I'll take it!' and send a site IM.
2. If you 'take' an item from the thread, you should 'give' an item to the thread before 'taking' another item, to keep yourself even.
3. If all PIFers would pay for outbound shipping, it'll all work out even in the end. It makes it easier on all parties to not have to send shipping payments for items. JMHO.
Also, the whole thread has become rather confusing as to what's still available and what all has been taken. I've just spent the better part of 2 hours trying to skim through the thread and see if there are any items left that I'd be interested in, and to see if anyone is 'taking advantage' of the thread. I'm going to try and post a reply with who has what still available. I'm sure it's not all correct, but it would be helpful if we could get this updated and get everyone to even, or at least mostly on the positive.
Another also. If 'taking' and item, please use the QUOTE function to quote the original post of what is being offered. Inside the quote, please edit out the unnecesary chit-chat so that just the item in question is being quoted.
Not trying to step on any toes, but I would like to keep this going and keep it on a positive note.

I think that's everything. Like I said, I'm sure there's stuff listed that's actually gone and stuff that is still available that I missed. If you could quote this post and your username only and update your items, I think it'd be very helpful to the life of this thread.

I think it would be helpful if the giver would edit their post to say "taken by XXXXX" after the item was taken. That way there would a lot less confusion.

+1 j20owner. Thanks.
I would like to see this thread turned into a page like the sale page and when an item is taken it is replied to that specific post like on the WTS or WTB page. Im not sure if its possible but it would make life alot easier to keep track of the items taken or still available. I will talk it over with the boss man and see what he thinks. :drinks:
