I have only used LLA and FWFL since I started casting and was wanting to try something else. I shoot 9mm, .44 mag, 30-30 and 35 Rem with cast. With .44 and 30-30 being shot the most. I was thinking about trying some of Lar's stuff but am not sure what to get. Can anyone reccomend one which will cover my applications?

Thanks,

Bigscot

2500+, Canauba Red, or BAC in that order would be my choice. You CAN email him with your question and he'll make a recommendation.

OR you can get a sample pack to try out all of his lubes.

You didn't mention if you have a heater for the lube, and that will make a difference on which one you'd be best with. The 50/50 will cover pistol cartridges and is a soft sticky lube.

I use a heater and a lot of the Canauba Red. I haven't tried the 2500+ yet, but it sounds like it might be a good choice for all but the really fast loads. Hopefully this is some help.

I meant to mention that I do not have a heater but have heard you can get by with an iron. I did email Lars and they reccommended 2500+ or carnuba red. I am just curious what others are using.

I like the softer lubes, I use Lar's BAC with a little (10%) of Carnuba Red mixed in to firm it up a bit more. This makes it a little less sticky to work with. I run a little heat as I lube in a cool basement.

I use BAC for everything. But then I paper patch all my rifle loads.

Carnuba Red for all my pistol and rifle loads. Rifles are kept at about 1200-1700 fps.

Bigscot, I use 2500+. My reloading room is unheated (60 degrees upstairs in an old house). I use the heat from a 100 watt lightbulb to loosen things up a bit. Above 70 degrees no heat is needed. Great lube at a great price. I'm thinking of trying BAC the next time around just for kicks, even though the 2500+ does everything I need it too...Ray

Bigscot, I use an old hair drier to warm the lube, takes about 2 min, and repeat every 20 min or so IF required.

I use Carnuba Red for all all my pistol boolits and 99% of my rifle boolits. The Red is hard enough that I can dump boolits in a bulk container without them sticking together.
