Just making sure this looks right since this mold is new to me. Should I run the slug down into the case a little more so that it crimps into the last band or leave it where it is?

I think it looks good to me. How I test I push down on the rond with the bullet on something solid like a work bench. I don't use all my strength but a reasonable amount of force. If you over crimp it causes the case to bulge a little just below the crip and then you have chambering issues.

Should I leave the crimp grove unlubed?

Usually you leave it unlubed, but I've done it successfully both ways.

Looks fine. You don't want to crimp into the band, that's what the crimp groove is for. I leave the crimp groove empty - never gave much thought to lubing it.

Yup, as I thought, I was over thinking things again. Thanks for the input guys!

Really, the answer is to put it in a chamber and see if the cylinder will turn all the way around!

I usually lube the crimp groove...

All things being equal I figure that a bit more lube certainly ain't gonna hurt anything. Sometimes I have to wipe the boolit a bit if the crimping forces the lube out of the case (I stop lubing the crimp groove if this happens).

Very true. Or in a rifle, if it will function through the action and chamber. My Marlin 1894 won't feed a Keith boolit seated to the crimping groove. Works fine with the #429244 or Lee 429-255-SWC.
