My smelting pot holds around sixty pounds of melt. I use a large commercial lead ladle designed to pour babbit metal and decant from the ladle into ingot moulds or muffin tins.

I use a #3 ladle from my cast iron pot that holds from 30 to 40 pounds. When I am done and the ladle won't get the last bit I put vise grips on the tab opposite the handle and pour from the spout on either side of the pot.

My pot is about 150 pounds working weight and I pour with a 3 pound cast iron ladle. Like jforwel, I can't get the last 1/2 inch out of the pot. Unlike him, I just leave it as a starter for the next melt.

I smelt in a cast iron pot that holds about 30 pounds lead. I dip from that with a small stainless steel ladle into cast iron cornbread stick pans. Then dump the ingots about a minute after they are cast. Just did 30 pounds tonight after work. What I can't dip out I leave as starter for the next batch.

My ladle is a soup ladle crimped like a taco shell a bit. It holds 1.5# which is perfect for the stainless steel condiment cups from Walmart (4 for $1)

My pot smelts 35# and I can pour 30 cups and they're ready to dump at about the same time that the next melt is ready.

The ladle has a 24" closet rod dowel handle. half of it rests under your forearm which makes it easy to transfer from pot to pour and easy on your wrist.

so far it works pretty well.

6oz juice can and pliers. Not sure of the price but it was available and free at the time!

4# Rowell ladle, each ingot weighs 3# so I fill out an ingot with each pour. It works well until I get to the very bottom of the pot.
