I've been casting 38, 9mm, 44 and 45 from WW plus a little tin (the Lyman 9lb WW + 1lb 50\50) and getting good results. Want to start casting for 7mm TCU with an intended velocity max of 1800.. what's the right alloy for the job?

Probably not a new question, just new to me..

Thks!

Peter

In my opinion. I would cut your 50/50 down to 1/2 lb and then Water drop some 7mm boolits. Then work your way up to 1800 ft/sec if you can. Between 1300 and 1800 ft/sec i would consider accuracy before speed. Lets see what some of the more experienced 7mm shooters say. I know someone will say fit to your chamber and bore/rifling is more imprtant than alloy hardness. I agree.

I think Randy has you on the right track. And yes, FIT is King.

+ 1 for what Randy said. It is kinda hard to go wrong with that advice.

Best wishes from the Boer Ranch,
