Good morning
English reading material is sometimes slow to arrive / get passed down here in my present location. This is all Old news to you but I just read it yesterday... :coffee:
Article in GUNS Magazine NOV 2005... Ammo section.. Mr. Petty author. Good article nicely written extolling the loading technique of downloading 30-06 (and other calibers) to "Managed Recoil loads". Lists a Fed. 30-06 170 grain at 1992 fps ! Why these might cost only $12-15 a box of 20 !
So I pulled my 1973 Lyman Cast bullet manual out and yep there it is... 173 gr GC #311291 with 20 grains 2400 - 1730 fps to 27.5 gr 2400 - 2155fps. [smilie=1:
This is wonderful ! A nationally recognised ammo manufacturer and gunrag that admits easy to attain cast boolit velocities are pleasant to shoot and capable of harvesting most hunted critters ! I can finally rest easy! My 03 will not fail out in the woods nor hurt me unnecessarily as I happily knock over well perferated bowling pins.
God Bless you. Mike

Reverse "magnumitis"? Or could it be common sence?

One of my Psychology professors used to have a favorite saying - "There is no such thing as common sense - sense is not common!"
