we need some help, 45 2.1 & I.

Seems like there is a whole bunch of interest in a full set of true Keith Lee 6-cylinder moulds from .38 to .45.

What we lack is some samples! We something that 45 can measure up and draw. Can anyone help?

To be precise, we need samples from Keith moulds that are old , they must not have rounded lube grooves.

We only need 3 or 4 bullets.

Anyone?

Cat:

Here are photos of bullets from my old Ideal 454424 (wheel weight on the left+linotype on the right). This mould has #413 stamped on it and has no vent lines machined in.

If these bullets are of interest for a potential 6-cavity buy please provide a mailing address and I will ship a few off.

This mould is the MOST cantankerous that I own and bullets drop with difficulty. Linotype is almost impossible ! It is a little beat up which may explain its problems. My Ballisti-Cast #1101 (H&G #501) is a dream compared to this thing. I break the square groove 454424 out for nostalgia only ! The square lube groove is a little TOO square.

That's the real "Keith" 250 gr. bullet I would like to have a six cavity like that. 265 gr. + is good for really strong guns but to get more velocity out of a S&W or a New Service 250 is best. I think that is why Mr. Keith settled on this design rather than a heavier weight in .45 colt. JMHO.

I have a 358429, that *looks* like the original keiths are supposed to... but I've not had a chance to cast any from it yet.

I also have a 429421, but some idiot took a wire wheel to it in the dim dark past. Casts OK, but I doubt it would be what you want for an engineering sample.

It may take a couple weeks, but if I get the time I'd be happy to cast some up of the 358429 and send 'em in...

This is the 358429 I buy from Frank at Mt. Baldy. If somebody wants a couple of samples, send an email to cwatts AT palmnet DOT tv.

This is cast from a recent vintage Lyman 358429 mould. I would guess that is what Mt. Baldy might be using for their production.

Cannon,

I think I agree with GLL, it does look very like the 358429 current production Lyman that I have too.

The three bands aren't even in width, and the only 90 degree angle on it is on the base; all of the others have a bevel of some sort.

I sure appreiciate the effort though.

That link is access denied, but if its the steel models Keith endorsed, Creeker knows who had them. I believe it was NEI.

Here are examples of my Ballisti-Cast #1101 (left), #643, and #1103 (right). I will ship all of my samples off as soon as I have time to cast a few H&G #51's.
