Yesterday I cast around 800 230 LRN boolits and my question is for those who use the Lee gang mold. When you reload these what do you normally set the OAL to and how much crimp? If you have a picture too that would be super duper.

Which Lee 230 bullet?

If the 228-1R, 1.220."

If the 230-2R, 1.265." This bullet duplicates ball; the aforementioned one does not.

Crimp is the minimum I can get away with to remove the flare, as taper crimping actually lessens bullet pull or resistance to setback in feeding, especially when it is overdone. Call it .471-.472." The taper crimp is a reliability aid to feeding and no more.

I cast Lee 452-230-2R 6-cavity myself, and seat the boolit to the top edge of the boolit's shoulder; since I have my Pro-1000 in .45, the crimp is factory set ( I have no idea how much ). I'll post pics tomorrow.
