If I need to get a sizer for my newly cast boolits, what size will I need to get?
I have the TL-452-230-2R Lee mold. I was looking at the Lee sizers and see they make a .451 (90061) and a .452 (90055). Should I slug my barrel first to see which one to get?

General rule of thumb is to slug your barrel and size boolits .001" over bore size.

Slug your barrel first. I am guessing that by your boolit choice you are casting for a 45 acp. I have a 451 dia for my Lyman 450, and a Lee 452. I am currently looking for a 452 for the Lyman lube/sizer, because even though my 45's all slug between 449 and 450, the 452 just seems to shoot better in all of them. I am guessing that you will end up with a 452 sizer unless your bore sizes wierd like 447 or 448. The nice thing about the TL-452-230-2R is that it shoots quite well as cast. The only reason why I size that one is because I shoot that boolit in my 45LC and it has tight chambers and will not chamber as cast with certain brands of brass.

Best wishes from the Boer Ranch,

Joe

P.S. what part of the state ya from?

I go at least .001 over sized, but with some of my barrels, .002 works better. When I am shooting Boolets made from Ranch Dog molds, I go .002 and .003 over size, these are for Marlin lever guns.

I use a Star sizer for the bulk of my sizing and have dies that go from right on diameters, such has a 458 that is .458 to 460 for teh same rifle.

Luibe does make some differences, so that is another factor that you have to work out. I have some very hard high velocity lube that works well with over sized or as cast bullets.

Thanks for the info!!! I will lube the boolits and then make up a dummy round to see if it is going to chamber in my pistols. I have two .45ACP pistols, a Springfield 1911A1 and a Glock Model 21C. I have re-barreled the Glock with a KKM Match Grade barrel that is designed to shoot lead.
