I have a Lee 358-158-RF mould and when I put it through my 4500 sizer it comes out with lube around the base. Is this because it's suppose to have a gas check or am I doing something wrong or is this normal? This is my first attempt at bullet casting and would appreciate any help. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with that specific boolit, but typically if it has a groove on the bottom for a gas check the sizer luber will goober up the bottom of the thing with lube. On the other hand, (I've still got five fingers) if there is a bit of lube stuck on the top of the die piece the slug sits on more lube will work under the slug. The sprue must be flat and smooth on the base and you might try varying the depth you use to try to keep the base away from lube holes in the die.

"Lee 358-158-RF" I beleave has a small bevel base, this is going to collect a little lube from the 4500 just wipe it off on a rag. If lube is squrting under the base then back off on the pressure a little.
IME there will always be a small amout of lube on the base, I just wipe the base across a paper towl laying on a flat surface.

I have that mold and it is a bevel base. I cut the bevel out of the mold and cut groups in half.
Try adjusting the sizer so the bevel is not in line with a lube hole.

I started with a reamer and then lapped it slowly with a boolit diameter brass lap disk.
