200gr. RNFP molds just arrived last night. So as you may guess I just had to play with my new toys. After preping the molds I cast about 200 bullets. I weighed a small sample and all weighed 210-212gr. Is it normal for LEE molds to weigh heavy. I also have the 160gr version of this bullet and they drop from my mold in the 172-174gr. range. My alloy is 19lbs. WW to 1lb. 60/40 solder. I have a 20lb pot and cast around 700deg F. The bullets look great, they just weigh more than I was expecting. I bought the 200gr. mold thinking I was going to get 200gr. + or - a grain or two, not +10 or 12gr. I have a Lyman 452460 that drops bullets right at 200-201gr. What's the deal?

Thanks,
Elk Country

Yeah, kind of normal. Each mold maker sets weight with one alloy.
Nothing to worry about, just work loads as normal.
My 325 gr Lyman makes boolits at 347 gr. Shoots great.

All my Lee molds drop WW over by about the same percentage you mention. They shoot fine with the listed loads.

My Lee .40 cal, TC, 175g (nominal) casts boolits that weigh about 181g. I'm using straight WW at about 900F.

I cleaned the mold with alcohol on a Q-tip and got good results after about 3 or 4 casts.

Mine also weighs in that range 205-210grs. Most accruate bullet I have shot in my .45's, Just using staight wheel weights and a dash of 95-5 solder.
