Is anyone using Hornady 7mm gaschecks on this bullet (RCBS 270-150SP)? If so, how well do they work?

They work fine it you mic them you will see that they are the same diameter. also use cast 7mm Dia bullets and use .270 lee resizer with teflon tape lube no functional promlems encountered I"m using Lyman 7mm 150 gr mold

The 7mm is supposed to have a smaller check shank than a 270. Go figure.
A 7mm shank is supposed to be .251” while a 270 shank is supposed to be .253”.

But I just tried one of my new 7mm gas checks from Gator onto a Lyman 270 bullet with .255” shank and it pushed on with finger pressure. I don't have any of my RCBS 150's cast up unfinished to check.

I do know that my Lyman 7mm #287405 has a smaller check shank than my RCBS 270-150. Can't remember the measurements or if either is casting correct size.

To answer the question. I don't see why not.

Sounds pretty good. I don't care if I need to flare the check a little in order to start it on the GC shank because I'm doing that already with .30 cal. Hornady checks in order to install them on RCBS 30-180FN.

Thanks for the replies... I'm trying to decide whether my next project will be a .270 or a 7x57. The .280 is also in the running but that may require an extra fireforming step from .270 brass because of the latter's limited availability. I like the longer necks of the .270 and 7x57 too. My requirements are a cast boolit platform that will launch boolits big enough to anchor coyote at a couple hundred yards and light enough for extended long range target shooting at hyper velocity. The 7x57 is looking better and better but the problem is mold selection since I've never cast for anything smaller than .30, I have only the currently available selection of molds to choose from.
