I've got two 12 stick boxes of old Mirror-Lube. I've also got a dozen pounds of pure beeswax. I was thinking of mixing the beeswax and Mirror-Lube 50/50 and using it for pistol boolits. Max velocity would be 950 fps.

Viable or dumb idea??

I advocate against mixing them. It would probably do OK, but Mirror-Lube is great, and a dozen sticks will last a LONG time. Buy some Alox form one of our members and make your own NRA 50/50.

I had a guy swear that straight beeswax was fine. Thoughts?

Yup, Bzwax is okay by itself for low pressure, low velocity. So is no lube. I don't do neither. Plus 1 on getting some alox to mix with that bzzwax.

I think the ALOX mix would be the better idea. Thanks for getting me straight Gentlemen.

Used to have a bee keeper neighbor who gave me all the beeswax I wanted. Still have 20 or 30 pounds I guess.

The ALOX thins the beeswax down and allows it to flow eaiser??

Alox is a key part of the lubrication, besides lowering the viscosity of
the beeswax. NRA formula lube is 50/50 alox and beeswax, but I think that
may have been a different numerical name of alox than is sold by Lee now,
so the mix may need adjusting to get the correct flow in the lubrisizer and
ability to stay on the boolit.
