Just got my package from Grafs . NEW 45 AR brass. never had that before. Cast up a bunch of 452400's and 452423's . Revolver is S&W 1917 in good shape, almost new, really. Want to try Unique, and Red dot also 700X . nothing hot but just good shooters (tough to see the sights on the old smiths) Has any one used the starline brass yet? Are there any other good boolits to try? I think the RCBS 270 is just a bit too much but will do all the usual acp stuff.
This should keep me outta trouble for a while.

Starline makes good brass. Have you checked the price direct from Starline?

I have a S&W 625 that I really like with the 452423 (group buy) boolit sitting happily on top of some Unique. The article "Texas Love Story" is what turned me on to this boolit.
Lots of fun and the scourge of my "therapy zone" (It is some old fire extinguishers that I took the valves off and stuck them upside down on fence posts behind my office.-Really helps me survive between clients during the income tax season).
Great boolit/powder combonation.

Well, there's the 452424, the 452400, the 454485GC, the 454190, the 452490 and one of my favorites....the 45-230-CM.
Some of these are pretty hefty but I've shot them before in the .45 AR./beagle

I have got to stick by my guns and good old 452423. I had no idea what kinda rukus I would stir up with that article "452423 I Love You - A Texas Love Story" when I first published in in The Fouling Shot a few years back. I guess I have had a couple of hundred email, letters and phone calls about that bullet. There seems to be a renewal of interest in general in that bullet. It is a good one for 45 ACP, 45AR and 45 Colt. One guy is sending them screaming out of a .454 Casull at some ungodly speed. He has turned a couple of Mulies inside out with them.

Whatcha got to get now for that ol' '17 is a Wondersight! I started a thread on 11/20/05 about it and there are photo and such in other posts in the thread. Youll have to go to the bottom of the page and change the dates to "show last 75 days" to find the thread. An adjustable sight for the '17 for under $30.00 IIRC.

Bret, SOME kinda sight that I can see.. man those ole thumbnail sights are hard for old eyes to pick up. My 17 shoots high at 25 yds with 240 gr boolits, and a bit to the left. All of the old military pistols seem to shoot high, and I tend to shoot to the left with sight settings that center for most folks.
Charger, I read that article on the 452423, good one, I really like that old slug in the 1911, loaded to 1.200" oal it feeds well in my 1911 and shoots to the sights at 15 yd with 6.0 gr unique.
I'll look up that sight, thanks.
