madcaster,

I had the fortune to use one with a 452 sizer and I was impressed. I was not able to talk the owner out of it and he has since passed on. Wish I knew where the old tool went.

Interesting item there. Hope you get it. When you do we want a full report with pics.

Good grief...tell the seller to dunk that in some Kroil for a spell prior to shipping it to you! I cringe when I see pics like that. Granted, the seller may not have a clue, but still...[smilie=b:

No competition from me. Thank you for posting it, I would never have seen it otherwise. Looks like fun.

Thanks for the heads up, I've been looking for one!:kidding:

Hmm, that looks like it would operate kinda like a Star , only with a hand-operated lube "pump". Since it's a push-thru, it should be pretty fast, once a guy gets the hang of it. I'll bet me or Buckshot could whip up some extra dies for that dude. Good luck, I hope you win it!

Jeff, that baby looks like a candidate for the electrolysis bath treatment. Or, give me a yell and dunk her in my tank overnight. It'll make her look like a new one.

This "clear field" thing has never set well with me. I've never asked anyone to hold off bidding on something I want, I would never ask that of anyone. If you want it and you're willing to pay more than I will, you deserve to have it and you have my blessing. Asking others here to hold off does not guarantee that you will get it, it may well go to someone you don't even know, and I'd much rather it go to someone here than to a stranger. I cannot ever remember bidding on anything that anyone here wanted, but in the future, if it happens you make your bid and I'll make mine and best wishes to the winner.

Well,I got it in today, now all I need is .310,a .454",.377"and 431" sizing dies...it ALMOST looks like it would take a Lyman or RCBS siing die,but it t'wont.:(
I will size a few up pretty soon and let ya'll know how it handles at least!:-D

Scrounger... I don't find the "clear field" a bothersome thing. Back on the old Shooter.com board we had a list of the members Ebay IDs, so we would not bid against each other. We had a couple of folks with deep pockets and they could buy up everything in sight, leaving nothing for everybody else with less resources.

We had a gentleman's agreement that the guy that found it and bid on it first, had a clear field from the rest of us. The good stuff got spread around that way, and we all had fun. But those were the days when we were a much smaller group. We bid against the world, but not against each other. At least we tried not to, although mistakes happened.

Other than stuff posted here (I won some, I lost some, no big deal), as far as I know I have not conflicted with a forum member on the Internet auction boards. It's just that personally I am a cheap bidder and I would hate to ask anyone here to not bid on something for my sake, especially given that my success rate is probably 5% or less. In addition, when I do bid, I use Esnipe, a sniper program that throws in the bid 4 seconds before the auction ends. How could I say,"Don't bid on it" and then not bid myself till the very end when my anemic bid may well already be mute and not even posted for that reason. I will continue bidding as I have been and will not ask for a free pass from anyone.

My one cents worth. Asking for a clear field does not hurt. There is still plenty of non board members out there to run up the bid on that treasure you are after. It has happened to me all to often.

Just a thought: Would you be as happy with the "Clear Field" concept as a seller?

I would block that bidder :-). Technically at a live auction it is illegal to do this, some machinery dealers in Toledo got in BIG trouble for meeting up before the auctions and deciding who would bid on what, and how much.

Sorry, I still can't see "not bidding against each other" as a good thing. It is contrary to the auction concept and is definitely unfair to anyone asking them to withhold a bid on something they want for your own selfish (and likely unsuccessful) benefit.

Great, glad to hear it. As an Iowan I really wanted that sizer, but decided to play nice. Glad it went to a good home.
