Can you identify this BOOLIT?

No names on the mold. There are some numbers. .358 627.

It looks similar to an H&G mold. But they were pretty proud of their stuff and put their name on them. This mold has no name.

It casts 160gr .358" bullets that I figure are made for smacking bowling pins around.
The top of the mold, especially around the cavities is pretty beat up. I may have to see if I can "shave" a little off of the top in a mill to correct it. That is unless someone tells me it is a collector's item and they want to give me $1000 for it!

Nice design. 2 square deep grease grooves with an Elmer Keith type of crimp groove.

Looks a little like the H&G #9 but a bit too heavy. The nose and base band seem a little longer as well.
Nice looking bullet no matter what its origin.

It is an iron one sir.

It is kind of "shallow". There isn't much thermal transfer into mold blocks.

Here are some loaded. These are for plinking so to speak. I had some loaded up in 357mag cases with a healthy charge of 2400 under them. They were real accurate out to 20 yards or so. I am shooting indoors now as the temperature here is in the teens, that's below zero! ;)

At any rate, these are going to be for pins or plates depending on how they are loaded. The picture is of some loaded in 38spl cases with 3.0gr of Bullseye. I usually use 3.5gr with this weight of bullet for target stuff but this one sits in the case much deeper so I thought I would lighten it up a mite.

Modern Bond was one of the better mold companies in the older days. I have many of the brochures and buy the molds and handles when I run across them. Most people don't know they are very good. Mark

I don't know what you spent on that mold. But if it was within reason, then if I were you, I would be happy with it. Beautiful boolits!

I wouldn't worry about being taken. MB moulds are real jems when you find a good one and evidently you have. In their day and time, MB moulds were probably more sought after than H & Gs which were newcomers.

MB moulds fall into the same time category as the early Ideals, Cramers and Yankee moulds. In the 30s and just prior to and during WWII./beagle
