I read somewhere about using a teflon spray lube to lube cast bullets. If I remember it was a 3m teflon spray. Does this ring a bell with anyone. I was suposed to leave a hard wax similar to a 22 bullet.

No on the Teflon spray. But Rooster Jacket dries to a hard waxy shell, like on 22 bullets. Guess you could spray it on.

I have always wondered about the Rooster Jacket stuff. Is it similar to what is on commercial swaged bullets like Hornady uses?

this is the stuff. I got a good memory jolt from my daily dose of cola.

Be interesting to see how the Teflon holds up to the heat and pressure/friction of firing. I know some are using Teflon plumber's tape for boolits, but haven's heard if it fouls the bore. If it does, what would it take to remove it?

The Rooster Jacket is just like on a federal 22lr bullet. A hard clear wax that you can scrape off with your fingernail. My guess is, it is some variation of floor wax like they use in schools and hospitals.

I have used teflon tape.I never got any fouling from it that didn't come out with normal cleaning routines. It can be a bit hard to get the tape on at first. It usually comes off the bullet just beyond the muzzle. Kind of looks like snow flakes!

I used to use Remington tri-flow lube on my muzzleloaders. Clean bore between shots, and dry. Bore riding 500 grain spire point (pure lead) on top lube impregnated 1/4 wad and 120 grs 2F. Apply triflow to patch and swab the bore after seating boolit. Forget to apply tri-flow and your boolit will hit 10 inches low at 50 yards and your barrel will be full of lead. With tri-flow, the shots were touching.

However, Felix and others warn of toxic fumes, and corrosive efects on steel from teflon.

You can get a liquid plumbers tape at Home Depot. I don't know if this would work or not.
