HI,
I bought some Win. Lg. pistol primers recently, as my usual CCI primers were out.
On the box it says use for standard OR magnum primer loads.
DOES THIS MEAN THEY WILL WORK IN A LOAD REQUIRING A MAG. PRIMER TO RELIABLY BURN A POWDER LIKE WC820 IN MY 44MAG.???
Or should I treat them as standard primers?

You might want to reduce the load by 5% or so if you are on the top of maximum on the standard loads and watch for pressure signs. Although if you are at max you will see those pressure signs anyway.
I have been told that these primers are slightly hotter than standard and hot enough to qualify for magnum, thus the slight additonal pressure.
Probably not much change but a word of caution.
YMMV

+1 to what Donald said. If I remember right, the cups on Win are a little softer than the CCI as well.

They will work. Let us know if you can discern a difference.

ALL of my .44 mag and .45 loads with 296 use nothing but Fed 150 primers. The WW primers will be no problem at all.

..............It has been a wonderment to me that some Winchester primers would have that on the carton. But they did also have seperate magnum and standard primers too? Heck I dunno, I just used'em :-)

If you will notice all the standard WW primers says for magnum also, meaning standard for 38sp 44sp ect. and magnum for 357 mag 44 mag ect. The powder burn speed used in loading the mag rounds dictates using a standard primer(BY, Unique, RD ect) or a true mag primer(H110, 296, H4227 ect)
Hense the wording, For Standard or Magnum primer loads!

shotman is correct. Winchester uses one LP primer for all loads up through those that use 296 powder. I use a lot of WLPs in loads with as little as 3 gr of Bullseye to maximum loads of H110 and 296. Never had a hint of problem with them.

Use the WW without any problems. Used CCI all the time, now my source carries the WW at a few dollars less and they work.

I use win primers only. In LP I use them in 45 auto 'lite' loads and 44 mag H110 loads. Never had a misfire or squib load.
