I got this old Tasco red dot for a buck. I do not know the model, what size battery it takes and even if it works.
It looks like this one,

The battery case is separate from the main body. No other markings except Tasco pro point.
Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. I looked at the tasco site and all they have are manuals for the current production.
I stopped by radio shack on the way home, unless it uses several coin cells they don't have it there.
It must be some odd size. I went to the Sanyo site and could not match up the dimensions of the case. :?:

Lee, try emailing the seller on ebay with your questions. He might be your best bet for the info you seek.

I have several older red dots ( not one of your's ) that take 1/3 N cells .
A 1/3 N is about .452" in di and .412" long

I don't know if this will help, but my ancient Aimpoint uses hearing aid batteries, little flat disks. The drugstore has a better selection of these little buggers than RadioShak, but they're not found with all the other batteries.

Mine has a Sanyo CR-1/3N in it. Same unit you bought but silver finish.

Do what I did. Go to the Tasco web site and call their 800 help line phone number. Have the sight right in front of you and describe it to the person on the phone.

I did this for my Brother a month or 2 ago and it took about 2 or 3 minutes to get the answer. Just remember, don't give up if the person says they don't know! Ask them to check with someone in the department. My guy went to a supervisor who came up with the right battery number. I think it was 1/3 N too.

The battery in my newer propoint is the 1/3n. I measured the inside of the battery case on the older one. It measures .660 dia and .8 to 1 inch in length. I can't be sure of the length, I guess closer to .8.
I got the run around with Tasco. The older pro point line belongs to another company. I will call them tomorrow.

There is a piece of black plastic that goes inside mine with a spring in it, it goes inside the battery case on the side. That piece of plastic holds the smaller battery and fills the majority of the battery cavity.
