I can't decide which mold to get to make some 200 grainers for a 30/06.Which boolit would be better for hunting and around 2100-2300 FPS,and what is everyones favorite load for their 200 grainer?

RCBS 180 fn is the winner. I have only shot it with surplus WC860.

Bob B's recommended 41/H4831. Mine is the Lee 200 gr. Works the action of my M1 and shoots better than I can hold 'em.

I don't have the RCBS but the Lee 200 is a good boolit. I do like the Lyman and RCBS molds better but they do cost. So the question you need to ask is how much/often will you cast this boolit and are they steal molds worth the extra expense?

What kind of velocity will you get with the Lee 200 grainer loaded with 41gr. of H-4831?

I bought a Lee C312-185-1R for my 308. I tried it until I realized it was to big for .308 because the boolit was .310 ahead of the bands.

So I gave them to my buddy who shot them in an old 30-06 (made in Germany, imported by western auto or somebody like that). These boolits shot out of his gun better then jacketed bullets! He has just enough wear that the .310 boolit did the trick.

You need to slug the barrel, this might be the trick for your 30-06 as well.

Leadhead: Hodgon's Data Manual #23 has a section for lead bullet loads and they list 41/4831 with a 180 grain bullet at 2022 fps. My new Chrony is under the Christmas tree, and as soon as it warms up here in Nebraska I'll run a few over it, but I'd guess they are in the neighborhood of 2000. Incidentally, I said that was Bob S's load. That's not his name. Guys, give me a hand.

311299 0r 314299 (whichever fits the throat the best) is my heavy weight and long range choise for the '06 and any other .30 cal that will take that heavy of a bullet. The most accurate and usefule load out to 300 yards is 29-30 gr of 4895 with a3/4 gr dacron filler. Veocity runs 1750 - 1850 fps. For long range (out to 600 yards) I up the charge of 4895 or switch to a little slower powder like 4350, 4931 or RL19 TO GET 2100 2200 fps with 2 moa accuracy (10 shot strings). At that velocity it used to just stay sonic at 600 yards at 4500+ ft elevation. Down at sea level it will hold sonic to 500 yards only.

It was too Bob S. Seems like I'm always right. Gets tiresome, sometimes, never making mistakes. A curse I must live with, I suppose.
