You guys are making things tough for those of us who rely on the stock market for our 401K income.
Does this one actually cast in the 255 grain range, and about .454 diameter? My 454 423 is about 238 grains and the 454 454 weigh about 264 or so. If this is really in the 255 grain range, it could be a nice addition, if large enough for the Ruger BH.

C1PNR,
I sure hope the market turns around for you. You need to order one of these moulds. [smilie=1:
My mould from the first buy casts:
COWW + 1% tin 258 grs. .454/.455 dia.
50% COWW/50% SOWW + 1% tin 262 grs. .454/.455 dia.
I am considering ordering another one.
I am still testing loads in my BH. So far I am real happy.
Works well in Marlin 1894 Cowboy also. I can get 10 rds in the tube, but it is a squeeze. :Fire:
Beside that, it is a real nice looking boolit.

Money Order for two moulds goes into the mail today. My mould from the first run drops beautiful bullets at .455/.456 with a minimum of fuss. 1/2 WW-1/2 Lead- 2% tin weighs 262 gr with lube. Anybody who even thinks they might have a 45 Colt in their future should get one of these. Thanks for running this Group Buy!

I’m sorry for the answer you are about to receive but here goes.
I don’t know anything about the Keith's original mold. I do know that this design is a shooter as Lloyd Smales was the original person that wanted this design run. This design is his go to design for the 45Colt so that was all I needed to know to honcho this GB.
I’ve cast up around 40 lbs of these boolits and haven’t shot a one. But my dad has and so has his friend and they love it. The only complaint I’ve got was from dad’s friends, he didn’t care for the flat base (he has only reloaded commercial cast till now) much for having to bell the case mouth a bit than with bevel base. But he loves it in his Ruger pistol and wants a few 1k more.
Sorry for not knowing more about the boolit design end of this GB, I’ll drop Lloyd a PM and maybe he will chime in for me.
Thanks Robert

Robert,
I'm guessing your post is directed to me. A while back I PM'ed Lloyd about the boolit and asked him if the first run was a good shooter. He told me a little about it, but we did not discuss much about the design details. Thanks.

Im not positive how this mold compares to a true keith. I never really checked it out. I know by looking at it it is about as close as anything else calling itself a keith. this bullet was designed as a copy of the rcbs bullet. Now the problem with the rcbs is two fold. first you can only get it in a two cavity and second theyve made 3 variations of this same bullet through the years and this one cant be bought new anymore. It is by far the best of the three designs. its the best shooting as a matter of fact in my experience it is the only 250 class 45 swc that ive ever had much luck shooting at 25 yards. Another problem with bullets in this weight class for 45 is NONE of them seem to shoot well at long range. Even this out of the rcbs doesnt seem to fly well. Now ive got a good buddy who lives for shooting long range and he bought a couple of these because he was frustrated finding a good long range bullet. He is telling me we got lucky and this one flys. Everytime lee cuts us a group buy they change something, it may be almost to small to notice with your eyes but it doesnt take much at all to change the dynamics of a bullet. Well he reported to me that this might be the majic bullet that flys. hes done some testing and is getting good results. Personaly ive been layed up with back problems and havent even tested it at short range. I do have another friend who has had the chance to shoot it up close and he says its a keeper too. Again i cant gurantee it will shoot in your gun as we all know every gun is its own animal but just the fact that it stabilizes at long range makes me think its going to be a peach of a bullet.

I've shot several hundred of these thru my guns, and it has been one of the most accurate, if not THE most accurate so far in the 250 weight class. My USFA's love them and will shoot an 1" @ 25 yds if I am doing my part. I tried them in my .45 SBH Hunter that I just got back from Alan Harton, and with the scope in place I was able to basically shoot thru the same hole @25 yds. I have not had a chance to try them at extended ranges yet, but they are certainly very accurate at typical handgun ranges. 9gr/Unique and 7.6-8gr/WW231 are a couple of loads that this bullet really likes .

The mold I pulled out looked good. I spayed it out with carb cleaner and put it on top of the pot to let it heat up while the alloy come to temp. Around 8~10 pours I had nice filled out boolits that fell from the mold as I opened them up. I pour another 10 rounds and to see if all was well and to get a decent idea of what the mold could do.
I pulled out 10 boolits and measuer them up and the worst I could find was .001" large on 2 boolits out of 10 and that was on the main band. The rest of the measurments were spot on I used WW alloy that was in my pot and air cooled the boolits.
I've got shipping lables on everything so if this winter blast will hold off til 10am, the molds will be sent out later this morning.

I just got the Cussey 45 LC molds from the Lee group buy that Opentop ran and they look like the best cut Lee molds I have seen so far. I havent cleaned these molds yet, as I got 2 of these, and am not complaining at all. Just an observation and difference that I noticed.
