BOOM BOOM-- My favorite boolit for silhouette shooting and hunting for over 40 years has been the Lyman 429421. I currently own moulds and shoot .44 boolits that range in weight from 173 to 325g. Occassionally I'll find a load combo using one of the various moulds that is accurate in a given gun, but, time and time again, the 429421 seems to outshine them all.

hi i have or currently have 5 44 mag bullet moulds and the most accurate is the rcbs 240 sil gas check bullet , i have 4 revolvers and rpm xl in 44 mag and at 50 yards this is the most accurate bullet out of them all and i juge accuracy from 20 shot groups at 50 yards just so theres no fluks involved . .bob

HI,
I have been using the Lyman #429244 which is a 250gr gc making bullets for about 30 yrs. But this year during my normal xmass bing of casting the sprue plate swivel screw stripped out. ARUG!!!!!!!!
TRIED SUBSTUTING IN THE SCREW FROM 2 OTHER MOULDS W/ FAILURE.
Tried a screw threaded all the way it didn't work well eather.
Fear the only solution is to retap the hole.
I like the mold & the Kieth style SWC bullet.

BoomBoom ,Like you ,I like the 429244, and used it for sillouette shooting, and hunting for years. It and it's half-brother the 429291, are good all around do everything bullets. As for retaping your sprueplate screw, you might just put a grove in the screw, and use the setscrew keep it in place. DM

Thanks for reminding me. That is a good idear that I have used on other problem screws. I just didn't remember. I'll try doing that today.

Boom Boom,
Ever heard of a helicoil? You tap the hole bigger with the tap in the kit, then install the helicoil. Its a piece of hardened steel wire that makes new threads the same size as what was there. Costs about $35.00 for the kit. It comes with about 10 inserts. NAPA may have them.

I use them on a lot of things up to 1" bolts.

Here's another vote for the 429244.
Loaded on top of IMR4227 for a bit more than 1200 fps out of a 10" Dan Wesson.
Good for both silly-wets & mule deer.

I have a 300 gr FNGC with 80% meplat from Dan at MM that has out performed any other .44 bullet I have ever cast. If my computer literate son was home from college I would post a pic of it. I've shot almost nothing else since I got this mold. It is a beautiful bullet that performs on game and on paper in more than one 44 Mag.

I found the kid on his cell phone and he helped me get this pic online. The pics are as cast, with a gas check, sized and lubed and loaded.

HI,
Went over to Ted's he drilled & tapped both the plate piviot screw hole & the side screw hole, put in new screws. Looks like it'll work like new.
Have to cast up about 20 lbs more 7MM's. Then I'll switch alloy & start casting 44's .
Then back to doing 38's as I got the saeco handels finally.
