Sorry to bother you guys again but before I order my Lee sizer die, I need some last minute advice. My mold will be the Lee 312-TL160 for my sks paratrooper.
I'm really not interested in sizing but I want a reliable way to install gass-checks.
I would like my boolits to slightly larger than bore diameter and the only Lee sizers available come in ....311 or 314 ! I dont like the idea of 311 boolits and I'm concerned that .314 may be too large ! Which one should I get? Can I size just the gc without touching the boolit? If so which size should I get, 311 or314 ???

Assuming you want a size larger than 311 but smaller than 314, order the 311 and open it up to what you want.

How do I do that?

You can search here for opening up a sizer.

In general, what I do is coat some scrap bullets with fine valve grinding compound and run them through the sizer. After 6 or 8, clean the die and see what your are getting with a fresh bullet.

Repeat as needed.

Remember you can always take more out, but you can't put it back.

Greetings My family of SKS rifles (CHICOM) all shot the Lee .313 155 gr gc just fine whether sized .313 or left as cast .314 WW ... You may want to make a dummy round (no primer/powder) and see if it will chamber without any resistence in the chamber. Diameters probably vary. I can not yet speak for the yugo / Euros but I have one waiting for my return.

Buy both. You'll save some on shipping and you are better off with the .314 if it will work. You'll need the .311 for that 308, 30-30, 30-06 etc that you are going to get eventually anyway. If the .314 doesn't work then try the .311 or make a 'twenner .311 - .314 as discussed previously.

Stop you before you buy...you are on the wrong forum friend:mrgreen:

Good luck!

Can either one be used to seat the gas checks while not touching the boolit?

The .314" die slightly sizes mine.

E-mail Lee and ask for a sizer die that is bored to the nose profile but not cut all of the way through. I got one to seat the gas checks for a Lee mold that I had that wouldn't seat the checks without sizing it base first.
