Is anyone experiencing backorders for Lee moulds?

Back on November 26th, I placed an order for some (popular sizes) Lee moulds from a supplier which normally ships within a few days. Called them today and was told that Lee was now very busy and have a backlog of several weeks for getting some moulds out.

Lee and all of the other reloading and casting suppliers are back ordered. The high cost of ammo in the last couple of years has greatly increased the desire to reload ammo.

You'll just have to be patient. You might want to check several different suppliers. Sometimes, if one doesn't have it another might.

"This too, will pass..."

Lee has gotten very big and because of poor planning has not uped it's work force or machinery until now and it's put them behind. I saw a letter than said the plant was in the process with 2 new buildings filled with equipment. The letter stated that it would take time to train the staff and finish buying equipment. In the meantime, we wait.

Its not just Lee molds. Looking at the big suppliers like Midway, a large portion of all of thier reloading supplies, tools and loaded ammo are "out of stock". It seems to be like this every year at this time of the year. This year is even worse due to the election outcome.

It's a real pain waiting for backorder, but it's better than the alternative. In this economic climate it can be real dangerous, from a business standpoint. The last thing Lee needs is "warm body syndrome" and just hire, hire, hire, and build and invest. Great short term profits will not save a company from a long term investment mistake. Ask the big three, they'll tell you the same. I would rather have to wait a might for things than not have Lee there at all in a few years. I'm thankful for what we have now, several great companies and products from many pricing points, and hopefully from a business standpoint they are healthy and will be here for decades.

Remmember how many guns have been sold since the election. A lot of these people are getting reloading gear with them. Just about everyone in the firearms industry is behind right now.
