Just picked up the mould - hoping someone here has had positive results with this one. Especially if they're shooting them thru a Ruger 77. Anyone have an idea which top punch from Lyman may work with this one - I checked Cast Pics no info for this particular boolit. Thnaks Bill

Yup, I use it in my Ruger 77. I use IMR 4198 with Kapok filler. I can't tell you the top punch number, but it is one I had purchased for another boolit. Just about any punch designed for a round nose should work with it.

Hey msp2640, What cartridge in particular do you want info on. I use this boolit in both my .338 Win. mag. and my .338/06`s. I haven`t seen anything on the .338 Federal use yet. I cast them using ww water quenched or straight lino, the lino comes out weighing about 205 to 210 gr. The ww comes in at about 220 gr. Let us know the cartridge you will use it in and we can help a little more. :castmine: Robert

Of all the .338 moulds I've tried, including three different Lyman designs, an NEI and an LBT, the Lee 220 is the most successful to date. The work included several rifles, one of which was a Ruger 77. However, this rifle left us before I knew much about casting rifle bullets so it can't be blamed for any shortcomings.

On one stellar and well-remembered (and rare) occasion, I put TEN of the Lees into 15/16" from 100 yards, using my wife's Super-Grade M70 and its 26" barrel. Velocity was only about 1250 fps, but still.....

Reckon I'll soon be ordering one of the new two-cavity versions of this design.

I'm at work and "dis-remember" the load, but rest assured that the design DOES work.

Should have mentioned that its a 338 Win Mag. Mostly looking for something for paper targets - I'm thinking somewhere around 1600-1800 fps or so with wheel weights. Not trying to turn it into a 22, but easier on the shoulder and wallet practice ammo, while keeping it moderately close to factory ammo. Appreciate the info.

The lee tl works great Lee makes the push though just call you need to tell them to send you a punch that matches the bullet nose[no charge] you need to run boolit backwards through die to seat check. very nice boolit

Lee C338220 and 39 grains of 3031 is the most accurate loading in my 338 Mag.
