Here is my problem most of the shells i load have small bumps where the pellet sits inside and this stops them from just easing into the chamber.
Here is what i use: lee load all
cast my own shot not sure of lead content bought it on ebay
the mold is a size .360 got from lee
the manual calls for powder hs-6 charge 32.0grs primer fed 209a 9 #000 pellets in a RP 12 Wad and a 2 3/4 federal gold medal plastic case fold crimp

also new to reloading

Sounds to me like your trying to stack OOO size in layers of three in a 12ga. --- That does not compute or work (as you have found out). You stack OO buck (0.320" to 0.330" diameter) in layers of three and OOO buck (0.360"+) in layers of two for the 12ga. Try a buffered load of six instead and stack them in layers of two.

9 dont work good with a shot cup, cut the petals off. your best load would be with the fiber wads. Those loads are what I use to get missletoe out of the tree tops. at 25feet you can cut a 4X4 into.also the fed hull is soft try a AA or Rem. rick

will cutting off the pedals do anything to the barrel when the shot goes through?

As long as your using lead shot not steel your barrel will be just fine.
